Trenton beats Binghamton, 9-3 (7 innings, game 1)

  • Jason Stephens started, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
  • JB Cox allowed a hit and a walk and struck out 1 in 1 inning of relief.
  • Austin Krum was 1 for 4 with a walk and a steal.
  • Reegie Corona, Eduardo Nunez, and Marcos Vechionacci were each 2 for 4.
  • Jorge Vazquez, back after 3 weeks on the DL, returned in style, going 3 for 4 with a 3-run shot and a walk.
  • Jesus Montero, catching, was 2 for 4 with a double, raising his average to an even .300.
  • Chris Malec was 1 for 3 with a walk.
  • Richie Robnett was 2 for 4 with a double.

Trenton blanks Binghamton (7 innings, game 2)

  • Kanekoa Texeira started, giving up 3 hits and 2 walks in 3 scoreless, and fanning 3.
  • Kevin Whelan got the win, giving up a hit and a walk in 2 shutout innings, and striking out 2.
  • Reegie Corona, Chris Malec, and Justin Snyder were each 1 for 3.  Corona stole a base, and Snyder was caught stealing.
  • Noah Hall was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles.
  • Jorge Vazquez was 2 for 3.

Charleston falls to Savannah, 5-2

  • David Phelps took the loss, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings, with 1 strikeout.
  • Pat Venditte gave up an unearned run on 1 hit, lowering his ERA to 0.91.  Just to give an idea of how absurd his season has been, in 29 2/3 innings he has allowed 22 hits, 1 walk, and 1 home run, while striking out 39.
  • Jose Pirela was 3 for 4 with a double.
  • Corban Joseph was 1 for 4 with a double.
  • Abe Almonte was 1 for 4.
  • Addison Maruszak was 1 for 3.
  • Neall French was 3 for 4.

Staten Island defeated by Brooklyn, 5-2 (ended after 5 1/2 innings due to rain)

  • Kelvin Perez took the loss, giving up 5 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits and 2 walks, with 1 strikeout.
  • Michael Solbach gave up 2 hits and struck out 2 in 3 shutout innings.
  • Carmen Angelini was 1 for 2 with a walk, but continued his Charleston fielding struggles with an error that led to 3 unearned runs.
  • Ned Medchill, the Yankees’ 11th-rounder from Oklahoma State, was 1 for 3 with a home run.
  • Kelvin Castro was 1 for 2 with a homer and a walk.
  • 18th-round pick Hector Rabago, from USC, was 1 for 2.
