Wish I was happier about this: Big Papi on The List

Remember back to February, when Papi had this to say:

David Ortiz is fed up with his sport being sullied by one steroids story after another. His solution: more testing and more severe punishments.

I think you clean up the game by the testing,” Ortiz said at Red Sox camp in Fort Myers, Fla. “I test you, you test positive, you’re going to be out. Period.

Ortiz, who emerged as one of the premier sluggers in the game in 2003 with Boston after spending six largely forgettable years in Minnesota, believes all players on all teams should be tested three or four times a year, and any players testing positive should be banned for the rest of that season.

If I test positive by using any kind of banned substance, I’m going to disrespect my family, the game, the fans and everybody,” Ortiz said. “And I don’t want to be put in that situation. So what I will do, I won’t use it. I’m pretty sure everybody is on the same page.”

By now, baseball fans have had enough of this. Manny came back to a heroes welcome. I suspect Papi will be group-hugged by the Fenway faithful.

And baseball will move on, as it always does.

{Oh yeah, let’s hear it for George Mitchell. This fuels the rumors that his position as a Director for the Sox tainted his investigation and ultimately the results. Just sayin’…}

My questions for you:

  1. Do you even care about this any more?
  2. Does Papi’s outting upset you?
  3. Does it change anything?
  4. If you’re a Sox fan, will you cheer or boo?
  5. Release the remaining names or honor the original agreement of anonymity?

UPDATE: Looks like he’s really broken up over this: Papi just clubbed a 3 run HR off of a lefty in the 7th inning.
