Game 45: Yankees 1, Twins 0

Bronx Cheers:

The Weather: It’s a bummer when you have a nice pitcher’s duel going and it gets shortened prematurely by rain (or snow, etc).

RISP: The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position.  They looked like they were going to make something happen in the fourth when Derek Jeter and Brett Gardner both got on base to start the inning, but then Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez and Robinson Cano each failed to capitalize on the opportunity.

Curtain Calls:

Derek Jeter: His solo homer in the sixth was the game-winning run, even giving Burnett the win.

AJ Burnett: He went five innings, giving up just three hits and two walks while striking out five.

Bullpen: Robertson, Joba and Mo combined to give the Yankees four scoreless innings, giving up just three hits and three walks.
