Extra Innings 9/03/2010

This has to have been one of the more boring baseball days in recent memory. But the Yankees did win earlier, pushing their win streak to 7. Which is good, because after this homestand ends Wednesday, the rest of the schedule gets pretty brutal. Here’s what went on elsewhere in the baseball internet today:

How in the world do you run out of pitchers after September call-ups?

Derek Jeter is not having a good season. But you knew that already.

Settle in for a pretty boring September. This is, I suppose, a consequence of the wild card, but I think I’ll take the trade for more exciting playoff baseball. Plus, it’s not like you lack interesting playoff races every year, or even this year.

Mets GM Omar Minaya went for a cheap publicity stunt by flying coach to Chicago for the Mets-Cubs series there. It didn’t go as well as I imagine he’d hoped.

I will happily join the C.C. Appreciation Society.

Scott Boras is no longer A-Rod’s agent.

I didn’t see this coming: Manny apologizes for his behavior in Boston in 2008.
