The Farm Report 08/26/11 – Losses almost everywhere

Double-A Trenton lost to New Britain, 4-2
Trenton led 2-1 on single runs in the fourth and second, but Ryan Pope blew the save with three runs in the top of the ninth inning. Zolio Almonte went 2-for-4 with a double. Schaeffer Hall threw 6.2 innings of six-hit, one-run ball, with five walks (ew) and three strikeouts.

High-A Tampa lost to Brevard County, 8-7
This one was pretty wacky and back-and-forth, but Brevard County took the lead with a two-run eighth inning. Abe Almonte and Mitch Albieta both went 2-for-4, and DeAngelo Mack’s one hit was a triple.

Low-A Charleston lost to Savannah, 7-6
Savannah walked off on Charleston, who had a 4-2 lead through three but couldn’t hold it. Jose Mojica was 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk, and both Ramon Flores and Jeffrey Farnham doubled.

Staten Island beat Aberdeen, 8-4
Hooray, a win! Staten Island scored five through the first four innings. Mason Williams had a big day, going 4-for-5 with a triple, walk, and stolen base, as well as three runs scored. Ben Gamel was 3-for-5 with a double, walk, stolen base, and four runs batted in. Branden Pinder threw two perfect relief innings, striking out two.

The GCL Yankees lost to the GCL Pirates, 10-1
The Pirates scored seven runs in the first two innings, putting this one away very early. Matt Duran had two hits and Dante Bichette scored the Yankees’ only run in the sixth. Reynaldo Polanco gave up nine hits and seven runs in just two innings.
