Football/Baseball question of the day

Loyal reader Danrizzle posed this question and perhaps it’s one worth opening the floor for discussion, especially since it brings us up the on-ramp to baseball season:

Eli is so enigmatic; he makes bone-headed plays all the time (though much less so now than earlier in his career) but he’s otherwise entirely terrific. Does he have a baseball equivalent in that regard?

Who is the MLB equivalent to Eli?  Operators are standing by…

    jorge posada on the basepaths?

  2. BrienJackson says:

I would think any good hitter that doesn't take a lot of pitches is going to fit that bill. Cano, in particular, comes to mind.

I don't know why but my first thought was Manny Ramirez.

  4. Adam Dunagan says:

    Papplebon

Swisher? Mostly I'm thinking of him in the outfield where he makes easy plays look terrible but difficult plays look easy.

How about Aaron Boone? He’s shares Eli’s professional sports pedigree, as well as his reputation for inconsistency and, how-shall-we-say, ditziness. He had an older brother who was clearly the superior player, but it is Aaron who, like Eli, has a single moment of postseason heroism which will probably be replayed more than all of Bret’s accomplishments combined.

  9. Jake says:

Ruben Rivera on the basepaths or Milton Bradley and Larry Walker’s math skills. :)

I disagree with everybody and say that he makes boneheaded plays no more than anyone other qb including the qb of the other team he just played in the SB. He carried his team at times during the year when the D and running game were non-existent. He LOOKS dopey, but he ain't.
