The 25th man

William Tasker grew up in Bergenfield, New Jersey but has lived in New England since 1975 and in the far reaches of northern Maine since 1990. Tasker is the author of nine (non-baseball related) books and, besides writing here for three years, has written for his own site at www.passion4baseball.blogspot.com since 2003.

Kontos would be a decent choice.

I'm thinking though that they will want a 3-5 inning guy for those long days (where the SP gets bombed or hurt) or nights (after the 10th inning)…so I'm guessing Mitchell or Phelps. They both had solid ST but Phelps avoided the BB moreso. I would think they want Phelps as the first callup if one of the five goes down & Pettitte/Pineda aren't ready or back yet. So, Mitchell would be the 25th man as Warren isn't even on the 40-man.

      Interesting. Probably a good call.

Frankly, the way Wade looked this spring, I'd rather see Kontos and Mitchell. And when Andy comes back, we open another can or worms. Likewise when Pineda recovers. With good health, it's a good problem to have.

Wade kind of scares me at this point. He just didn't seem to have anything in his outings.
