  1. That's good news, if it actually happens. Gardner adds a dimension to this team that's been sorely lacking this year. In any event, he certainly can't do much worse than Andruw Jones has been doing lately.

  2. Sounds great.

Now, just between the two of us, did you EVER think you'd be this excited over having Gardner in the lineup? :D

  3. I'm going to go off the deep end here, I know, but if the rest of the lineup is hitting to their capability, who would you rather see in CF, a healthy productive Gardner, or the absolutely dreadful (defensively and offensively) Granderson? I remember Joe Torre sitting guys like Tino when they weren't hitting in postseason play and I think if Girardi had an option, 39 home runs notwithstanding, he'd do the same with Granderson. This assumes Teixeira can play and that Cano and A-Rod are productive. If not, you can't do it. But this lineup wouldn't suck:

    Jeter SS
    Swisher RF
    Cano 2B
    Rodriguez 3B
    Teixeira 1B
    Martin C
    Chavez DH
    Ichiro LF
    Gardner CF

Feel free to mix and match that bottom four based on which arm the pitcher throws with. But at least you won't have a 50-50 chance of a strikeout with any one of those last four.

  4. I feel like Gardner will return in postseason as Juan Pierre 2.0….. I am going to hold my breath every time Gardner dives for the ball or slides to second base… "gulp"

  5. You seriously want to take Granderson's power out of the lineup? Would you suggest that the White Sox bench Dunn for the postseason? Should the Orioles sit Mark Reynolds? Why not slot Gardner or Ichiro at the top of the lineup with the other regulahs and give Granderson six hitters ahead of him with legitimate OBP skills and hope his power comes at the right moments, making him a killer option out of the 7 hole? Chavez has been good and Nunez is really handsome but I don't see any reason to regularly opt them in over the Grandy Man. Maybe I'm crazy.
