Report: David Adams to miss Spring Training

Anthony McCarron of the Daily News is reporting that David Adams has a back injury and will miss Spring Training.

Adams, an infield prospect, missed a chunk of both the 2010 and 2011 seasons with an ankle injury so news of this latest injury is a tough break for him. It wasn’t a guarantee that he’d make the big league club but it would have been nice for him to be given a chance to compete for a spot.

The soon to be 26-year-old hit .286/.388/.524 in 22 games in the Arizona Fall League and he batted
.306/.385/.450 in 86 games with Triple A Trenton in 2012.

Let's hope he recovers fast so he can take full advantage of time in the minors this year. 2014 could and should be his year to make the jump to the Bronx

This young man just cannot stay healthy. It's a shame because when he can play, he puts up numbers. Unfortunately, there's no way the organization can or should count on him going forward. Anything he provides starting in 2014 has to be considered a pleasant surprise and bonus.

I feel really bad for him. It seems he has Nick Johnson/Grant Hill injury luck.

    Triple A Trenton?
