I don’t really have much to say about this news item – I mean, I guess you can consider it news – because I still can’t believe Kevin Youkilis is actually a New York Yankee. This offseason was odd for so many reasons but the news of the Youkilis signing was the weirdest – at least to me – of them all.
The beat writers, who are down in Tampa, tweeted and let everyone know that Youkilis had arrived and my initial reaction was, “Oh right, he’s a Yankee now.” My second reaction was an attempt at the drawn out “Youk” chant but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
I’m looking forward to hearing all about Youkilis having to answer inane questions about Joba Chamberlain. Personally, I hope Youkilis runs out to the field and they hug it out in front of everyone. Actually, I want them to already have a secret handshake just to really blow everyone’s mind.
Wouldn’t that be great?
I heard that as a gesture of forgiveness, Youkilis has bought Joba a gift of a trampoline.
I'm older and more cynical than you Stacey, I was hoping Joba would plunk him as soon as he entered the clubhouse.
