Sabathia to throw first bullpen session Saturday

Via Jack Curry of YES:

Sabathia will throw 1st bp session Sat. Though he hasn’t been on mound yet, he said his elbow feels much better. No pain when he extends.

CC Sabathia had surgery in the offseason to remove a bone spur from his pitching elbow so hearing that he feels fine and that the elbow is healing nicely is good news.

Sabathia is one of three players looking to return from offseason surgery in 2013. Derek Jeter had his ankle surgery and just resumed running this week and that Alex Rodriguez guy had hip surgery and is aiming for a July return to the team – barring any catastrophes or MLB suspensions, of course). And we also can’t forget Mariano Rivera who had surgery to repair his torn ACL last season.
