Quick Hits: Injury News Continues, Clay Rapada Shut Down, Derek Jeter Cleared For Activites

According to Erik Boland, left-handed reliever Clay Rapada has been shut down for 7-10 days with shoulder bursitis. With Boone Logan also on the shelf, the Yankees now have to look at some of their younger left-handed relievers.

Though Rapada is a less essential part of the team, his shoulder problem now adds insult to injury over what’s been a horrid Spring Training. Phil Hughes, Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixeira, Logan, Rapada, and a number of minor leaguers have dealt with significant time missed. The Yankees had very little margin for error when it came to opening the season with a healthy roster, but now this roster is far from healthy.

In other news, Derek Jeter was cleared for full activities today by his orthopedist in North Carolina. He should return to the team tomorrow, and Sweeny Murti believes we’ll see him in a game very soon. At this rate, I’m not sure if we want him anywhere but packed tightly in bubble wrap.
