After building a Metro North stop and jacking regular season parking fees to $35 a game ($50 in playoffs), not to mention weakening attendance, Bronx Parking Development Corp. has retained bankruptcy counsel:
Bronx Parking is in discussions with creditors and isn’t planning a bankruptcy filing, Edward Moran, the firm’s chief restructuring officer, said in a telephone interview.

The garages and lots, which have about 9,300 spaces, have suffered as more fans take public transportation to Major League Baseball games and drivers balk at paying $35 to park. The facilities averaged about 4,000 cars on event days and had an occupancy rate of 43 percent, according to filings. The Yankees have exclusive use of 600 spaces.
In other words, the bond holders are getting nervous.
I can use MNR for free (already have a monthly pass) so it costs me about $10 to take the train to the game. With a family of four, it’s worlds easier than fighting traffic (and far more civil) and having my wallet further vacuumed clean.
Can’t wait to see the attendance impacts under the Austerity Plan.

it's funny how companies only believe in supply and demand when prices are going to be increased.
Jason my friend. Remember where you heard this. The Yankees of 2013 are going to excite their fan base a fan base that to some degree has become complacent with all the Yankees success. This year "small ball" will be the order of most games. Base stealing, stretching singles into doubles and doubles into triples. When all is said and done the Yankees will be standing atop the AL East Division and their success will be all that much sweeter. That's just my opinion.
Every comment everyone posts is just their opinion! And, I'm of the opinion that you're more optimistic than I am, and I hope you are more right than I.
Ending my post with "That's just my opinion" has kind of become my signature ending to my comments. I meant no offense.
I've noticed. No offense taken. Just pulling your chain a bit.
Duly noted, my friend. Anyway I am very encouraged by the Yankee pitchers this spring. I think that's an opinion we both share.
Completely agree. More than pleasantly surprised. Hell, check out Eder's post above this one.
Just curious – wondering if uyf lives in Colorado or Washington state.
I like your scenario, but the only "energizing" I can foresee is the increase in booing and the throwing of objects onto the field. Who knows – maybe all the exercise will lead to another pitcher.
Beyond that – I'm with you, Jason – the train makes a lot of sense. I used to take the light rail to Twins games – park at Mall of America and then ride to the Hump Dome for less than $5.
The parking at games is a pet peeve of mine. These clowns had no idea how to run a business from the get-go. IIRC, parking was about $20 in 2009 (first year of YSIII) and from there went up to $23. Fewer people parked there as prices rose, so they jumped it to $35 to compensate and the bottom fell out. I even tried to save by paying in advance on-line, but they charge a convenience fee! However, there are alternatives. Mass transit doesn't work for me (from Central NJ) so I parked at one of the apartments on Jerome for $20.
We drive down from Rockland and park on the street either by Woodlawn or Mosholu Parkway and take the 4 down to the Stadium.
Or sometimes we'll park where I used to live in Inwood (upper Manhattan) and take the A to the B or D at 145 Street and go to the Stadium that way.
Answer: far better than getting ripped off for another $35. F-you, parking garage barons.
I only drove to the stadium once and that was for the Metallica concert. It was jacked up to $45 for that. Only reason I drove is because I normally take the Harlem line to games, which doesn't stop there when a game isn't going on.
Right. You'd have to get off at 125th and transfer to the subway.
As opposed to the austerity plan, I wonder how much attendance will be affected by the new ticket exchange system they have implemented with ticketmaster
