UPDATED Quick hit: Derek Jeter makes an unscheduled doctor’s visit

Well, this can’t be good.

Beat writers have just started tweeting that Derek Jeter went to Charlotte to see his ankle specialist. According to Mark Feinsand, it was an “unscheduled visit.”

Joe Girardi told the writers he’d speak to them in a bit but I’m guessing it’s not going to be positive news.

GM Brian Cashman addressed the media. Jeter has a small crack in the area of the injury. It’s a new injury that didn’t appear on previous CT scans. Cashman said Jeter will be out until sometime after the All-Star Break. Cashman also said he doesn’t believe the injury happened because Jeter was trying to make it back to the team too quickly. He obeyed doctor’s orders.

In other words, stuff happens.
