Game 34: Kansas City, hey, hey, hey

Pork Rib

I figured since Kansas City is famous for their BBQ why not post a picture that will make you drool during tonight’s game? (Doesn’t that look so good?) I’ve never been there but it’s definitely on my list of places to go to just for the food. People take trips where they visit all of the places known for their BBQ like Memphis TN, Kansas City, Lexington NC, pretty much the entire state of Texas, etc. I want to do that someday…

Oh, right, baseball.

This is the first meeting between the Royals and Yankees this season and it’s the first trip Mariano Rivera has made back to the place where his career nearly ended.

The beat writers and Meredith Marakovits of the YES Network all reported via Twitter that a group of Yankees made a hand painted sign that read “No Mo Zone” and hung it up on the outfield wall in Kauffman Stadium. They also drew a chalk outline of a body on the warning track. To his credit, Rivera was amused and said he knew he’d be teased by his teammates.

I’m glad we can all laugh about it now but it wasn’t so funny a year ago.

Here’s Kansas City’s lineup:
Escobar SS
Cain RF
Gordon LF
Butler DH
Hosmer 1B
Perez C
Moustakas 3B
Johnson 2B
Dyson CF

Davis P

I posted the Yankees lineup earlier but here it is again:
Gardner CF
Cano 2B
Wells LF
Hafner DH
Ichiro RF
Nix SS
Overbay 1B
Nelson 3B
Stewart C

Hughes P

Go Yankees!
