Tonight, weather permitting, Andy Pettitte will be trying for career win 250 against the Cleveland Indians.
Standing in Pettitte’s way, Justin Masterson who shut down the Yankees in his last start against them on May 13. He went all nine innings, gave up only four hits, walked three and struck out nine.
Pettitte is making his first start since a loss on May 16 against Seattle when he left the game early with an injury to his left trapezius muscle. He was placed on the 15-day DL and was activated this afternoon.
The weather has been spotty today and while the sun is out where I live 30 miles north and west of New York City, it has been raining on and off down south most of the day so the Yankees and the fans at the Stadium could be in for another long night.
