Game Thread, Rays versus Yankees, Sunday June 23rd, 2013

It’s old timer’s day! Full disclosure, I was literally writing a sentence about how I’ve never fully embraced the appeal of old timer’s day, and then they turned the cameras to Rickey Henderson. On my 8th birthday, when he was still a Yankee, Rickey gave me an autograph and I’ve been a fan ever since. Suddenly I get old timer’s day fully. It’s fun to see the players you grew up with put the pinstripes on again. The game today begins at 2pm. Ivan Nova comes back. He’ll face off against Chris Archer. Archer and Nova both come in with ERAs over 5.00. This game has the high potential for runs. The Yankees have won two in a row versus the Rays, but they’ve still gone only 4-6 in their last ten and find themselves in third place in the AL East, which is suddenly a division where all teams are above .500. A win today is a step in the right direction. Use this as your game thread. Enjoy!
