Game 86: One game at a time

Looks like reinforcements are on the way.

Derek Jeter will be joining Trenton Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (I know it’s Scranton, I had Trenton in my head because I know about 10 people who are at tonight’s game.) tomorrow, and Eduardo Nunez and Alex Rodriguez are continuing their rehab assignments. Word is that both GM Brian Cashman and manager Joe Girardi wouldn’t totally rule out a pre-All Star break return for Jeter.

I’ll let you celebrate for a moment.

Okay.

I posted the lineups earlier but here they are again, in case you missed them:

ORIOLES
McLouth LF
Machado 3B
Markakis RF
Jones CF
Davis 1B
Wieters C
Hardy SS
Flaherty 2B
Roberts DH

YANKEES
Gardner CF
Ichiro RF
Cano 2B
Hafner DH
Wells LF
Overbay 1B
Cruz SS
Stewart C
Adams 3B

The Yankees will be facing Miguel Gonzalez and the Orioles will be facing Ivan Nova.

After getting swept out of Camden Yards by these same Orioles, the Yankees looked like they were about to stumble into the AL East basement. And then something happened, that something was the Minnesota Twins, who have been the cure to all of NY’s ills this past decade. Now, the Yankees are feeling a little bit better about themselves coming into tonight’s game.

And even better, they will be getting some much needed help sooner rather than later.
