Braun Suspended For 65 Games

This isn’t Yankees related… yet. Ryan Braun was suspended today for 65 games following his connections with the Biogenesis scandal. In a statement, Braun admitted to his PED use, saying,

“As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect. I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions. This situation has taken a toll on me and my entire family, and it is has been a distraction to my teammates and the Brewers organization. I am very grateful for the support I have received from players, ownership and the fans in Milwaukee and around the country. Finally, I wish to apologize to anyone I may have disappointed – all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates. I am glad to have this matter behind me once and for all, and I cannot wait to get back to the game I love.”

As I mentioned, this isn’t Yankees related, but with Alex Rodriguez‘ connections to Biogenesis, one has to believe that the evidence has become all that more damning. The 65 games suspension for Braun was through a deal made by MLB and Braun, so the reports that Rodriguez may also seek a deal are that much more likely. Francisco Cervelli, Jesus Montero, Melky Cabrera, and Bartolo Colon were also on the list, as well as a spokeswoman of Robinson Cano‘s foundation. That said, it’s been reported already that Cano is not being investigated.
