According George King of the NY Post, the Yankees are closing in on a deal for Alfonso Soriano. According to his sources, the Cubs will pay the majority of Soriano’s remaining salary, and the Yankees will send over a mid-level prospect.
The ex-Yankee has had he fair share of ups and downs since leaving the Yankees in 2004 in the Alex Rodriguez trade, but in 2013, Soriano is batting .259/.289/.476. Last season, Soriano finished with a .262/.322/.499 slash with 32 home runs. The outfielder will probably be good for 10 or so home runs throughout the remainder of the season, and minus Cano, he could end up being their best bet on power.
