While the Yankees were off…

The Red Sox and Rays faced off tonight in a makeup game due to inclement weather last week.

The end result was a nail biter. The Rays prevailed 2-1 and after the game ended, the Rays’ twitter account tweeted this out:

About 20 minutes later, probably because they spent all of that time trying to come up with a clever comeback, the Red Sox twitter account sent this out:

Oh, snap!

One tiny detail that is incorrect in that tweet from the Red Sox account: The Trop is actually in St. Petersburg not Tampa.

This isn’t the first time the official accounts of MLB teams have sparred with each other and certainly won’t be the last. In fact, the Yankees account was involved in a playful “fight” with the Dodgers account a couple of months back. Something about championships and rings.

You know, the usual.
