Top prospect Gary Sanchez has been promoted to Double-A, will be here tonight.

After 584 plate appearances in Class A-Advanced Tampa, the Yankees will promote top positional prospect Gary Sanchez to Double-A Trenton. Sanchez hit just .262/.318/.425 for the Tampa Yankees, but Steinbrenner Field is a very difficult stadium to hit in. Sanchez, a power hitting catcher, hit just 13 home runs this season, which becomes much more impressive when looking at the stadium’s ballpark factors. Steinbrenner Field owns a 66 home run factor for right-handed hitters (with 100 being average), so his promotion to Arm and Hammer Park should benefit his power numbers.
This comes just two weeks after Vice President of Baseball Operations Mark Newman said he wouldn’t reach Trenton in 2013. I wonder if the team has changed their catching strategy, especially after Brian Cashman hinted last week that J.R. Murphy could reach the Yankees this season. (Begins around 8:30)
