The Yankees just announced that Derek Jeter is going on the DL which will mean the end his disappointing 2013 season.
Mark Feinsand of the Daily News tweeted:
Dr. Anderson said a lot of areas of Jeter’s ankle need to be strengthened. There’s simply no time to do that this season.
Bryan Hoch of MLB.com tweeted:
Cashman said Jeter is going on the DL to protect himself and also the Yankees from being tempted to use him.
Jeter, who tried to come back from his devastating ankle break in last year’s American League Championship Series against Detroit, played in only 17 games and batted .190/.288/.254/.542 with one home run and seven RBI.
