The Yankees made a move today. They traded Chris Stewart to the Pittsburgh Pirates for that “Player to be named later” guy.
Stewart to the dismay of most fans became the Yankees’ starting catcher in 2013 but finished with a paltry .211 average and four home runs through 109 games. He seemed like a nice enough guy and he was okay at pitching framing but he had no business being a starting catcher. He was arbitration eligible so people believed that the Yankees would non-tender him because of the Brian McCann acquisition but they pulled off this trade instead.
Bye, bye Stew. Good luck with the Pirates!
