Happy Birthday, Ivan Nova!

On this day in 1987, Nova was born in Palenque, San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. Back then, the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart was “Walk Like An Egyptian” by The Bangles, three days earlier, Assassination starring Charles Bronson and wife Jill Ireland was released and the top three TV shows all aired on NBC – The Cosby Show, Family Ties and Cheers. I was in seventh grade at the time and January 12 was a Monday so I was more than likely miserable walking the halls of Felix Festa Junior High. Ah, memories.

Here’s to a strong 2014 for Nova. The Yankees really need it.
