Quick hit: Sabathia Out Until July Per Cashman

According to Yankees’ GM Brian Cashman, it looks like CC Sabathia will be out until July.

Up to this point in the season, Sabathia is 3-4 with a 5.28 ERA and 4.73 FIP.

More from Sherman:

“It will be no sooner than six weeks from now,” Cashman said in discussing a potential return date for Sabathia.

Sabathia received a stem cell treatment injection in his inflamed right knee from Dr. James Andrews late last week. Cashman said the Yankees were informed that if the process works, it would be a minimum of six weeks. Which means the Yankees would be without the lefty until July.

As for a possible trade for starting pitching, Cashman said, “nothing has materialized [on the trade market].” And added, “Generally at this time of year, nothing materializes. We will keep an eye out to see if something does.”

One more pitching update from the Sherman article: Michael Pineda is pitching bullpen sessions and if everything goes as planned, he will be back the second week in June.
