Quick Hit: Water is Wet, Pineda has a Setback

Michael Pineda was scheduled to throw the ball yesterday (think playing catch more so than pitching), formally beginning the rehabilitation process that would have him back in the rotation by early August. Yesterday, however, Joe Girardi told reporters that doctors had found inflammation in Pineda’s right (throwing) shoulder, and recommended putting him back in the stable for another week.

The timetable for Pineda’s return had never been particularly clear – the ‘early August’ date came more from the conjecture of the media than the Yankees themselves, so anything other than ‘sometime after the trade deadline’ is little more than speculation.

Here’s hoping for some good news from the Pineda camp at some point in the not-so-distant future.
