Game 86: Phelps v. Pino

With Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel heading to Oakland, it seems likely that we should accept Phelps as a mainstay in the Yankees rotation for the remainder of the season. While I am convinced that the Billy Beane acquired Hammel with an eye towards flipping him for help elsewhere (given the fact that he may have been the third most attractive name on the market, behind Samardzija and David Price), I am not sure that the Yankees and A’s match-up all that well – the A’s need middle infield help nearly as badly as the Yankees.

Of course, stranger things have happened…

*Brian McCann was a late scratch and Francisco Cervelli is playing in his place so the lineup was shuffled a bit.
