Quick Hit: Yanks Designate Soriano For Assignment

The Yankees just announced that Alfonso Soriano was designated for assignment. When speaking with reporters about the move, manager Joe Girardi said, “It’s been a tough day.”

Soriano, who came back to the Yankees mid-season last year, hit 17 home runs during the second half of 2013 – he hit 34 overall. However, Soriano struggled in 2014 only batting .221/.244/.367/.611 with six home runs and 23 RBI in 67 games.
