Quick hit: Tanaka Has a Partially Torn UCL

Brian Cashman told reporters in Cleveland that Masahiro Tanaka has a small tear in his UCL.

Tanaka saw three doctors who all recommended rehab for his injury. Cashman added that none of the doctors recommended surgery because it’s such a small tear. So for now, Tanaka will have a platelet rich plasma injection next week, start rehab and if that’s successful, he could be pitching in six weeks. But if rehab isn’t successful, he’ll have to have the surgery.
