Yankees Trade Abraham Almonte For Shawn Kelley

The Yankees have agreed to trade outfield prospect Abraham Almonte to the Mariners for reliever Shawn Kelley. Kelley, a right hander, pitched to a 3.25 ERA and 3.55 FIP in 44.1 IP last season. He is a fastball/slider pitcher that throws low to mid 90's. His 23.7 K% in 2012 was a career high for the 28 year old. The organization didn't have much use for Almonte with their minor league depth in the outfield, and this looks like a very good deal for the Yankees. According to Buster Olney, Kelley does have a minor league option left. With the depth of the current bullpen, chances are that Kelley at least begins the season in Triple-A.
