Game 51: Subway Series Game Two

Here are the lineups for tonight's game in Queens. YANKEES Gardner CF Cano 2B Wells LF Overbay 1B Adams 3B Ichiro RF Brignac SS Stewart C Kuroda P

METS Tejada SS Murphy 2B Wright 3B Duda LF Byrd RF Ankiel CF Buck C Davis 1B Harvey P

Mariano Rivera was invited by Mets ownership to throw out the first pitch tonight and he accepted the offer. Michael Kay tweeted that retired Mets closer John Franco will be receiving the pitch.

Some Mets fans have voiced outrage at this move but in 2001 when Cal Ripken Jr. played his last game in Yankee Stadium and he was honored before the game and threw out the first pitch. So it's not an unprecedented move and some people need to calm down.

Some Yankees roster news:

  • Joba Chamberlain will be activated for tonight's game while David Huff who was claimed off waivers last week will be DFA
  • Both Mark Teixeira and Kevin Youkilis will be playing in Trenton this week and could possibly return to the big club in time for the weekend series against the Red Sox.

Go Yankees!
