It looks like Yankee fans have two returns to look forward to on Monday, Nick Swisher is coming back to the Stadium for the first time since signing with the Cleveland Indians and Andy Pettitte will be taken off the disabled list and starting that same night. Hooray! I like good news, don't you?
Bryan Hoch tweeted the news shortly after 4 p.m. Pettitte, who was sidelined with a strained trapezius muscle, reported no problems after a 75-pitch simulated game earlier this week and Joe Girardi announced that Pettitte would be available to start on Monday. Before his injury, Pettitte had a 3.83 ERA in 49 innings.
As for Swisher, his return may not be so merry after what transpired between him and the fans last fall but I really hope that is all water under the bridge and that for a few moments, before the game starts, fans remember that they actually liked Swisher when he was a Yankee.
We shall see.
