Quick Hit: Wang Opts Out

The Yankees announced that Chien-Ming Wang has opted out of his MiL contract to pursue a Major League job.  Ken Rosenthal has the details on that.

Toronto is hurting in their rotation right now, so this move is as good as any for them and maybe it means we'll get to see CMW again sometime down the road.  Wang pitched to a 2.33 ERA/3.36 FIP in 9 starts for Triple-A SWB, albeit with just 25 strikeouts in 58.0 IP.  He was never going to be a serious contender for a rotation spot in New York, especially with Ivan Nova and Vidal Nuno both working as starters again in Triple-A and Michael Pineda set to begin his MiL rehab assignment tomorrow.  Hopefully Wang is able to parlay this into something.  Best of luck to him and it was fun having him around again while it lasted.
