Good afternoon, everyone. I wanted to start this post off by apologizing for the absence of a game thread yesterday. I was at a wedding for most of the day and night and was not around to post anything.
Truthfully, I didn't even check my phone until about 8:30 last night but when I did, I was thrilled to see that the Yankees had won and that they had scored five runs. I actually made the touchdown motion with my arms when I saw the score on my phone which was pretty funny considering I was in the middle of a wedding reception and my table mates looked at me like I was crazy. (Little do they know.)
I was able to see Chris Stewart's double play during my car ride home from Connecticut last night. That was pretty cool. Also, pretty cool, the ovation the Fenway crowd gave Mariano Rivera when he came in to pitch.
And in case you're one of those people who isn't on Twitter and didn't see the story, apparently Mo got another ovation at a Boston steakhouse following the game. It was witnessed by Kenny Albert of Fox. Could you imagine walking into a restaurant and having a bunch of people applauding you? I'm sure that will never happen to me.
So today will be one of those long, agonizing afternoons will we wait for the Yankees to play at 8:00 p.m. And if I'm going to be honest with all of you, I may not even watch the game. I may just listen to it because I'm not sure I can handle an ESPN game tonight. I feel like they're just torturous.
In the meantime, I am planning on watching the Mets/Phillies game because of the matchup -- Matt Harvey vs. Cliff Lee. That would be a fun game to watch. Or it will not live up to expectations and be completely awful.
Guess we'll find out in a bit.
Enjoy your Sunday and if you're in the northeast, try to enjoy the 'cooler' weather. Don't you love how just under 90 is cooler?
