Game 120: High five?

hughesDo not adjust your television sets (how dated is that phrase?) because what you are seeing is real. The New York Yankees have won four in a row, five out of six and are on the verge of a sweep against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim California Disneyland. And why are the Yankees winning? Two words: Alfonso Soriano.

  • 13 RBI in two games
  • Four home runs in two days
  • mashing fastballs like it's going out of style

This team, which had been a nightmare to watch for close to two months, is firing on all cylinders at the moment. Will it last? Most people (mainly the media) don't believe so. They think it's too little too late and that too many things have to go wrong with other teams for the Yankees to even make the playoffs.

Here are my thoughts on this whole thing: It's August 15 and the season ends September 29. That is plenty of time for some teams (everyone ahead of the Yankees in the standings) to cool off and for the Yankees to heat up.

As the famous saying goes, "You can't predict baseball!" and you never know what's going to happen.

Though I do have an idea of what's going to happen today with Phil Hughes on the mound. I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to see him do well and not give up three home runs to Mike Trout this afternoon.

Pretty please?
