Yankees 9, Red Sox 6: Plunk you

arodpoints81813 I will have more of an in-depth recap tomorrow later today but I thought this picture and title was appropriate for a quick recap.

CC Sabathia's was iffy and uneven - he gave up six earned runs on seven hits, walked five and struck out five. He only lasted 5.1 innings but thanks to his offense, he picked up his 11th win of the season.

ESPN's Player of the game was the guy in the picture, Mr. Alex Rodriguez who had himself quite a game. He finished 3-4 with two RBI, was hit by a pitch thrown by Sox starter Ryan Dempster in the second inning then retaliated in his own way by hitting a home run off Dempster a few innings later. It pulled the Yankees to within 6-4 and the Yankees ended up scoring four runs total that inning thanks to a three-run bases clearing triple by Brett Gardner to take the lead and they never relinquished it.

Mariano Rivera came in and recorded his 36th save of the season and 644th of his career.

More to come in a few hours...

Oh and just in case you missed it, here's A-Rod's home run. Check out what he does at home plate. Classic.
