It was first reported yesterday that the Yankees were close to signing Kelly Johnson and now they have. According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the deal is 1-year and worth $3M. It's just pending a physical. Johnson can play second, third and the outfield (corners mostly), batted .235/.305/.410 with 16 home runs and 52 RBI in 118 games this past season for Tampa. I know people were goofing and saying he was signed in case the Yankees couldn't sign Robinson Cano but Johnson is really more for insurance because he can play a few positions. (God, I hope so.)
His career line is .253/.335/.427.
