Yankees: Ryan to miss the first month

Brendan Ryan 2013 The Yankees announced that backup shortstop Brendan Ryan will be out until at least May because of a strained right calf.

Ryan was hurt yesterday while fielding a grounder up the middle against the Rays and had to be carried off the field. According to the AP he arrived at Steinbrenner Field on one crutch.

Ryan was playing for the injured Didi Gregorius who made his return to the lineup in a split squad game against the Tigers in Lakeland this afternoon.
