The Yankees have played the Rays 5 times this season. They haven't lost a game to them yet. After sweeping them on the road a little less than 2 weeks ago, the Bombers have a chance to repeat the feat this afternoon at The Stadium and extend their latest winning streak to 4. Michael Pineda gets the ball today, pitching on regular rest instead of the extra day he was supposed to get due to the Tanaka injury. He was borderline dominant in his last start against the Mets, and I know I'd love nothing more than a 7+ IP, 1 ER or fewer, 10+ K start from him today to put an exclamation point on this series. Here's the starting lineup that will be supporting him this afternoon:
1) Jacoby Ellsbury- CF 2) Brett Gardner- LF 3) Alex Rodriguez- DH 4) Mark Teixeira- 1B 5) Carlos Beltran- RF 6) Chase Headley- 3B 7) John Ryan Murphy- C 8) Gregorio Petit- 2B 9) Didi Gregorius- SS
Petit is back up to take Tanaka's open roster spot. Screw the Tampa lineup. They don't want none of Big Mike.
First pitch is scheduled for a little after 1 PM local time. Go Yankees!
