Happy 40th Birthday, A-Rod!

A mere two days before the big 4-0, Alex Rodriguez hit three home runs in a game for the first time since August 2010.

And all of them were monster shots with the "shortest one" measuring 424 feet.

While the first one, off starter Tommy Milone, came off an 88 m.p.h. cutter and traveled the furthest, it was the game-tying shot in the ninth that was really impressive because it came against closer Glen Perkins who threw Alex a 94 m.p.h. fastball that was quickly deposited to dead centerfield.

Right now, at age 40, Rodriguez is batting .277/.375/.539/.914 with 23 home runs and 58 RBI.

No one saw this performance coming. Alex included. But it has been great to watch.

Now, I know this will probably shock most of you, but I was having a tough time coming up with something to write about today. I knew, I wanted to write about Alex turning 40 but the words were not coming to me so instead, here are some of my favorite Alex Rodriguez highlights.
