Random thoughts about life, baseball, moons and dugout kerfuffles

Good morning everyone. It's random thoughts time (because I cannot come up with anything else to write about today)! Ready, set, go!

  • The Yankees won three out of four against the White Sox and their magic number is actually down to two so they could clinch a playoff spot if they beat the Red Sox tonight and either A's beat Angels or Mariners beat Astros.
  • Nice!
  • I still think it's funny that there are people in Yankeeland who think the Yankees still have a chance to win the division.
  • Have they not seen how Toronto has been playing since the trade deadline?
  • They're unconscious. (Toronto, not those fans.)
  • And it's perfectly okay that the Yankees aren't winning the division.
  • Would I have liked to have seen them win it? Of course.
  • With regards to winning a division, how about those Mets?
  • I'm happy for my friends who are Mets fans.
  • But not that happy...
  • Let's talk about Saturday, shall we?
  • I attended a charity event that's held every year in my town and saw some former players.
  • I talked to Mookie Wilson! Well, okay, I really only said one or two words because my brother was monopolizing most of his time, but he was a cool dude. I liked listening to Mookie talk about the '86 World Series..
  • I didn't get to talk to Mickey Rivers at the charity event. I think he goes every year. I took a picture with him and Jim Leyritz two years ago.
  • I waited to see David Cone because I didn't want to interrupt him while he was signing autographs but he was happy to see me which made me feel good because a few moments earlier, I was slighted by my ex best friend who completely ignored my existence. Fun times.
  • My brother was talking to Cone about the perfect game because he went and I didn't, and he loves rubbing that in. I'm still annoyed that I didn't get to go. That will always "haunt" me.
  • Oh, so did you all see the Jonathan Papelbon/Bryce Harper brouhaha yesterday afternoon?
  • Papelbon is a dink.
  • Sorry. Nothing anyone says will change my opinion of him.
  • He grabs his crotch and acts like a total douche on the mound and he's going to call someone else out for "not playing the game the right way." and then CHOKE him?
  • Come on.
  • That's ridiculous.
  • Also ridiculous is the fact that Matt Williams claimed he had no idea what had happened. Or that he didn't realize the severity of it.
  • Um, why didn't one of the players who broke up the kerfuffle, say, "Hey, by the way, Papelbon choked Bryce!" Why leave that pertinent part of the info out of the report?
  • The Nationals are a dumpster fire. What a mess of an organization.
  • It's embarrassing.
  • BTW, if they want to trade Harper, I'm sure the Yankees and their fans would be happy to have his MVP numbers in the lineup.
  • And lastly, that super blood moon eclipse was really, really cool. I was able to watch the first half of it before the clouds ruined my view.
  • I love that stuff. I'll sit outside in 10 degree weather to watch lunar eclipses.
  • Back to the Yankees.
  • I hope they clinch the playoff spot tonight. I don't want any unneeded stress.
  • I also want them to win because the Red Sox are annoying.

Enjoy your day!
