Spring Training Opening Day: Yanks vs. Tigers

It feels good to write a game thread post again.  After almost 5 months of no baseball, the Yankees return to the field today to kick off their 2016 Spring Training game schedule, hosting the Detroit Tigers at Steinbrenner Field. We already know that Luis Severino will get the ball to start today's game and he's scheduled to work 2 innings or throw 30 pitches.  Pitchers expected to follow him out of the 'pen this afternoon include the Nicks (Rumbelow and Goody), Johnny Barbato, and former top relief prospect Mark Montgomery.  The starting lineup supporting Severino is as follows:

1) Didi Gregorius- SS 2) Starlin Castro- 2B 3) Brian McCann- C 4) Mark Teixeira- 1B 5) Aaron Hicks- CF 6) Dustin Ackley- DH 7) Aaron Judge- RF 8) Ben Gamel- LF 9) Donovan Solano- 3B

Players available off the bench today include top prospects Jorge Mateo and Dustin Fowler, new Triple-A first baseman Chris Parmelee, final bench spot candidate Ronald Torreyes, and Austin Romine.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM local time and the game is being broadcast on YES, MLB Network, and MLB.tv.  The weather is supposed to be nice in Tampa, so it's a beautiful for a ballgame.  Here's your game thread if you're going to be watching.  Let's go Yankees!
