Game 53: Pineda vs. Boyd

Now that CC Sabathia has recaptured some semblance of his former glory, it is only fitting that someone would step-up and replace him as the Yankees offering for worst starting pitcher in Major League Baseball. Heading into this season, I wouldn't have guessed that that someone would be Michael Pineda - particularly as his peripherals remain mostly strong - but here we are. Eno Sarris of FanGraphs is the latest writer to take a crack at discovering what ails Pineda, and his takeaway is frustratingly non-committal. I suppose that's baseball.

And, yes, this is my attempt at a reverse jinx. Here is tonight's lineup:

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
  2. Starlin Castro, SS
  3. Carlos Beltran, RF
  4. Mark Teixeira, 1B
  5. Alex Rodriguez, DH
  6. Chase Headley, 3B
  7. Austin Romine, C
  8. Rob Refsnyder, 2B
  9. Aaron Hicks, LF
