Game 82: Sabathia vs. Shields

Happy Independence Day!

Yesterday marked the halfway point of the Yankees season, at least insofar as games played are concerned. The last time they sat at 40-41 at this point was in 2007, when they finished 94-68 and lost to the Indians in the ALDS (thanks in part to the infamous midges). CC Sabathia won the Cy Young with the Cleveland Indians, and James Shields had just finished his first full season in the Majors. It was a different time.

Here is this afternoon's lineup:

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
  2. Brett Gardner, LF
  3. Carlos Beltran, DH
  4. Brian McCann, C
  5. Starlin Castro, 2B
  6. Didi Gregorius, SS
  7. Chase Headley, 3B
  8. Aaron Hicks, RF
  9. Rob Refsnyder, 1B

The first pitch is scheduled for 2:10 PM.
