Quick Hit: Alex Rodriguez to Retire on Friday

And here is the full press release:

To say that it has been a long, strange trip may be cliche, but it applies to Alex Rodriguez's career as much as anyone's career in recent memory (if not more so). There was greatness, disappointment, success, failure, and scandal, and I cannot help but feel sad that the game is losing one of its giants. In lieu of recapping all of the fond memories that many of us have, I would like to wrap this up with a simple string of numbers - Rodriguez's per-162 averages for his illustrious career:

.295/.380/.550, 118 R, 32 2B, 2 3B, 41 HR, 121 RBI, 19 SB, 140 OPS+, 141 wRC+, 6.9 bWAR, 6.6 fWAR
