Game 112: Severino vs. Porcello

"The Red Sox had on-field ceremonies to honor Mariano Rivera (2013) and Derek Jeter (2014) when they retired. There will be nothing approximating that for Rodriguez, team officials said. If there is a public acknowledgment of his leaving the game, it will be brief."

- Peter Abraham, Boston Globe

Alex Rodriguez is not in the lineup tonight but, based on the above and his career numbers against Rick Porcello (.136/.130/.136 in 23 PA), that is unsurprising. It was fun to imagine him starting every game in Fenway, though, particularly as he has 2 HR in 11 PA there this season. As of this writing, it seem like he won't be in the lineup until Thursday. That's not much of a farewell tour.

Here's tonight's lineup:

  1. Brett Gardner, LF
  2. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
  3. Mark Teixeira, 1B
  4. Brian McCann, DH
  5. Starlin Castro, 2B
  6. Didi Gregorius, SS
  7. Chase Headley, 3B
  8. Gary Sanchez, C
  9. Aaron Hicks, RF

The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM.
