Game 146: Tanaka vs. Rodriguez

The newly signed Billy Butler is the designated hitter tonight, and will be batting fifth. He's batting .262/.316/.369 against LHP this year, after batting .200/.337/.350 against them last year. Butler was ostensibly brought on-board to bolster the team's offense against lefties, but he hasn't been a weapon against southpaws since 2014. If can rediscover his swing in the next two-plus weeks, the Yankees will have a solid weapon; if not, nothing of value will have been lost.

By the way - am I the only one that thought Butler had to be in his mid-30s already? He turned 30 in April.

Here's tonight's lineup:

  1. Brett Gardner, LF
  2. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
  3. Gary Sanchez, C
  4. Starlin Castro, 2B
  5. Billy Butler, DH
  6. Didi Gregorius, SS
  7. Chase Headley, 3B
  8. Rob Refsnyder, RF
  9. Tyler Austin, 1B

The first pitch is slated for 7:10 PM.
