Game 52: Gary Sanchez Hits Two Massive Home Runs, Brett Gardner Gets His 1000th Career Hit

The Blue Jays didn't stand a chance.

I take back everything bad I've ever said about CC Sabathia. Today's 6 1/3, one-run performance makes four straight strong starts. He's striking out batters again. With Masahiro Tanaka's future looking uncertain, Sabathia is now firmly entrenched as the Yankee #3 starter. Good for him.

But the big story of the night was Gary Sanchez:

You have to feel like more home runs are coming for Sanchez. Tonight brought his batting line all the way up to .270/.369/.470, but the statcast numbers suggest he could be even better. Here's Sanchez's home runs:

  1. 110 mph, 426 ft
  2. 112 mph, 448 ft
  3. 108 mph, 428 ft
  4. 104 mph, 429 ft
  5. 113 mph, 440 ft
  6. 112 mph, 434 ft

When Sanchez connects, he hits the ball like Aaron Judge. Damn.

Brett Gardner also had his 1,000th career hit. Congratulations, Brett!
