Our own Jason Rosenberg has the scoop:
A very good source tells me Jay Bruce would immediately waive his NTC to join the Yanks. But playing where? 1B? DH? OF, where?— Jason Rosenberg (@Jason_IIATMS) August 9, 2017
Jason tells me that the source is very reliable.
Bruce would be an upgrade for the Yankees at several positions this season. He's hit .258/.324/.524, 121 wRC+, while playing right field for the Mets. His 0.355 wOBA nearly perfectly matches a 0.354 xwOBA. For the Yankees, Bruce would likely be a DH or first baseman, and a pretty big upgrade over anywhere there other than a rejuvenated Matt Holliday.
As a left-handed pull power hitter, his spray chart in Yankee Stadium is pretty mouth-watering:
Bruce will be a free agent after the season, and is owed just the remainder of this year's $13 million contract.
Thoughts? Should the Yankees trade for Jay Bruce? What prospect would you be willing to give up in return?
